About the Mission: Who we are...

Very short history of the Mission

St. Giles Christian Mission was founded in 1860 as a domestic mission of Bloomsbury Baptist Church.

The ministry was to some of the poorest people of the city, living in the St. Giles area of London. During the 1930's the Mission moved to a new home in Bride Street, Islington - where the Church is now located.

We still maintain an Evangelical Ministry in this part of North London and invite all who wish to hear the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ to join us.

To help celebrate our 150th anniversary year we will soon be making available the history of St Giles' written by David Page - watch this space.

Our People

The Church at St Giles is a farly mixed bunch of Christians from various different backgrounds and traditions. We are a friendly bunch and although we don't have a high degree of formality in fellowship, our members tend to share life together in many ways.

We have regular Sunday Services in both morning and evening and various weekday activities.

What we believe

We are an independent evangelical Church with our own distinct history and traditions. We grew out of a Mission to help the poorest people of london. We still have that love for those society ignores and a desire to see them able to meet Christ at our heart.

At the same time we are also a part of the wider church of those who believe in and follow the way of Christ. For this reason we are members of the FIEC (Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches) and share as our own their statement of belief and their Statement of Ecumenism.

The Mission Hall

The Mission Hall is the base of operations for St Giles, it is a spacious building with 3 floors and houses the majority of our formal activities.
